Is it Physical or Chemical Change?

The question we tried to answer was is a physical or a chemical change occurring. We did this because we wanted to know the difference between a chemical and physical change and how to know if it is either chemical or physical.

How we did this was that we did an experiment in the experiment we did 5 example between physical and chemical examples.  
The five examples were:
  • Water with Salt
  • Copper and Heat
  • Sodium hydroxide and Copper nitrate
  • Hydrochloric acid and Sodium bicarbonate
  • Paraffin wax heated by water

Our claim was that the physical change is physical because it is the same thing before and after therefore nothing new. a chemical change is a chemical because its new and different.

Our evidence was that the physical changes were water and salt and paraffin wax.  Because in the end it was still water,salt, and paraffin wax. The chemical changes were copper and heat, sodium hydroxide and copper nitrate, hydrochloric acid and sodium bicarbonate. This were chemical change because copper changed color from being exposed to heat. Another chemical change was sodium hydroxide and copper nitrate because two liquids turned into a gelatin solid. The last chemical change was hydrochloric acid and sodium bicarbonate its a chemical change because it fizzed and became a gas.

The task that I have completed recently in my class of chemistry have been 2 labs, and a pogil, regarding significant digits and significant digits calculations. The pogil we did was significant digits and measurements this was the first thing we did to learn the basics of significant digits and how there manipulated like if you have only centimeters and no millimeters you estimate to the tenths place like if it 5 centimeters you have to add a 5.0 centimeters but if it has a millimeters then its 5.12 the 2 is estimated. This was do a Friday and i didn't do it but now its here yay.      What i did in that  week was learning about chemical and physical changes we did labs to see the difference between the both were. what i learned was that a change in state is a physical change and for it to be a chemical change it has to get in mix with acid,fire,or two liquids turn into a solid (perspitant). What i did to improve in these subject was learn the basic things that made a chemical change and what made a physical change and examples of those.

Exploring Isotopes & Average Atomic Mass

The guiding question of this lab: What is the atomic mass of beanium? What I did during these lab was first i did this graph: Data Type of Bean Total number Total  Mass Average Mass Percent Limium 5 7.0g 1.4g 10% Kidneyum 15 8.0g 0.53g 30% Peagen   30 6.5g .22g 60% Then i got the mass of the total number of limium then i averaged it. Then repeated this for kidneyum and peagen. Then figured out there percentages. With the formula P/Wx100=%. Then i followed another formula to get the atomic mas for beanium, the formula was #1 average mass x 10% + #2 average mass x 30% + #3 average mass x 60% divided by 100. Which the answer was 0.431 g for the atomic mass for beanium. That's how I did this lab.
